Real Projects, Real Impact: A Look at North Light AI’s Summer Interns
Behind the resumes are three individuals eager to learn, contribute, and grow with purpose.
Summer 2025
This summer, we’re welcoming three new faces to the North Light AI team—and they’re bringing with them a mix of creativity, curiosity, and serious talent.
Amanda Stewart, Julia Fichera, and Matthew McDowall come from different backgrounds, but they share a common drive: they want to learn, contribute, and be part of something meaningful. Over the next few months, they’ll be working alongside our team on real projects, tackling real problems, and getting a front-row seat to the fast-evolving world of AI in action.
Before they dive in, we asked them a few questions about who they are, what they care about, and what they hope to get out of this experience.
Matthew McDowall

Applied AI & Automation Intern | UNH ‘26, B.S. in Data Analytics & Data Science
What’s your internship goal?
"To bring machine learning and AI into real client-facing work. I’m most excited about combining theory with hands-on projects that actually influence business decisions."
What support helps you thrive?
"Working with mentors like Dr. Roozbeh Ghasemi (Lead of AI and Data at North Light AI) and having clear project frameworks. I like to know what success looks like from the start, so I can map the process and stay focused."
Why data science?
"I love turning numbers into stories that people can act on. There’s something powerful about using AI to solve problems that matter."
Fun Fact: Matthew’s passion lies in agentic AI frameworks, NLP, and business optimization—and when he’s not coding, you’ll find him hiking or at the gym
Amanda Stewart

Digital Strategy & Marketing Intern | UNH ‘25, B.S. in Business Administration (Marketing)
What drew you to North Light AI?
"I’m passionate about making complex technology more accessible, and North Light’s mission of bridging AI with education really resonated with me. I wanted hands-on experience where I could contribute creatively and learn from a team that values innovation."
Tell us about a past project you’re proud of.
"Organizing the Market Days Festival during my time at Intown Concord was a big moment. I led marketing, managed logistics for 50,000+ attendees, and coordinated with performers and vendors. It taught me a lot about storytelling, strategy, and executing under pressure."
What do you hope to gain this summer?
"I want to deepen my skills in content creation and digital strategy. I’m also excited to collaborate across teams and explore how marketing can drive real change when paired with emerging tech like AI."
Fun Fact: Amanda thrives in structured, creative environments and has a knack for turning abstract ideas into compelling messages
Julia Fichera

Marketing & Operations Intern | UNH ‘26, Marketing & ISBA Dual Option
Why North Light AI?
"I’m always looking for opportunities that combine creativity, technology, and real-world problem solving. The hybrid work structure and focus on impact made this a perfect fit."
What are your superpowers?
"I’ve worked with the UNH Sustainability Institute and on the Paul College social media team. Through these roles, I’ve sharpened my skills in design, data tools like Excel and SQL, and learned how to apply business theory in practical ways."
What makes a great team for you?
"A supportive environment with open communication. When I’m learning something new, patience and collaboration are key to my success."
Fun Fact: Julia is fluent in Excel, dabbles in HTML and Adobe Creative Suite, and is learning Italian on the side.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to have Matthew, Amanda, and Julia join us this summer. They’ll be learning by doing—working on projects that sit at the intersection of education, business, and emerging technology.
